All of our ministries flow from our objectives: Worship, Instruction, Fellowship, Evangelism. For more information on any specific ministry or if you are interested in serving, talk to one of the pastors or email us at [email protected] so we can get you in touch with our ministry leaders. There are many ways for you to serve the body of Christ. Click here to see a Campus Map to help you navigate our campus.
Genesis Kids
This includes the Nursery age (0-3), and Kids’ Classes for preschool through 6th grade. We have programs during the Sunday School hour (at 9:30 am) and during the worship service, after the kids are dismissed halfway through the main worship service. All our teaching is aimed to ground our children in the truths of Scripture through teaching sound doctrine (found in God’s Word) in the lessons and music, as well as other activities aimed to reinforce those concepts (worksheets, Bible memory, crafts, etc.). We have qualified, trained teachers who are cleared with a background check before interacting with our children. The safety and training of children is of utmost importance to us. As our children are taught year after year, we pray that God’s Word takes roots in their hearts, and they will move forward to our youth group, seeking to glorify Him in their lives. Serving opportunities include Teachers and Helpers (background check and training provided). Learn more at sevbc.org/genesis-kids.
GriefShare
GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. Learn more at sevbc.org/GriefShare.
Life-on-Life
This is in our “Ministries” section because in some ways it is the most important. Formal ministries can be helpful, but the Christian Church was designed to be lived in genuine community. Every believer has been given a God-given SHAPE (Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experiences) that God intends us to use for His glory and for the good of others. We would rather have fewer formal ministries with robust Life-on-Life ministry happening than the other way around.
Media
We are always looking for volunteers to serve on our Tech Team. They are the ones who keep the lights, sound, and computers on so we can focus our hearts on Christ during our weekly gathering together. Our goal is undistracting excellence. Serving opportunities include computer tech, video tech, sound tech (training provided).
Member Care and Benevolence
When we experience hardship, the body of Christ is designed to minister. Serving opportunities include preparing and delivering food, visiting the sick in the hospital, and offering assistance when difficulties arise. We also have a benevolence fund that is used to help our families and, on occasion, those outside the church in extraordinary need.
Men's Ministry
As Titus 2 teaches, it is important that older men and younger men of the church are regularly involved in each other’s’ lives. To help facilitate this, we host a Men’s Fellowship breakfast every other month. This provides an opportunity for the men to meet together, pray, and share what the Lord is teaching them.
Music
We want our music to be Christ-centered, Spirit-filled, Gospel-saturated, doctrinally-rich, congregationally-driven, stylistically-diverse, emotionally-engaging, and God-glorifying (cf. Col. 3:16). Like our media ministry, our goal is undistracting excellence. Follow our Spotify playlists to learn many of the songs we sing at sevbc.org/spotify. For our philosophy of music, see sevbc.org/music. Serving opportunities include singing, playing an instrument, and administration.
Pastoral Counseling
Our pastors are ready to walk with you through the mountains and valleys of the Christian life. Our pastoral counseling is aimed at giving you Biblical tools to faithfully respond as a sinner or a sufferer in the midst of life’s difficulties. Please contact us for help or for information about our philosophy of pastoral counseling.
Prayer Support
A church-wide newsletter and email list is available for you to send out and receive prayer requests. Requests that are not urgent should be sent to [email protected] and will be included in the weekly newsletter. Urgent prayer requests should be sent to the same address, but with “Urgent:” in the subject line. Urgent requests will be sent (at the availability of the moderators) as soon as possible. When you receive a request, please pray. When sending a request, please be prudent about the information you include. Moderators have full discretion to edit requests.
Small Groups
Small groups are an integral part of ministry at Southeast Valley. Most of our small groups are multi-generational and include fellowship, singing, prayer, and discussion from the Bible. Serving opportunities include Leaders, Hosts, and Helpers. Find a group at sevbc.org/small-groups.
Sunday School
Sunday School classes meet on Sunday mornings at 9:30am. We offer rotating electives each semester, and cover whole books of the Bible, the basics of Christian living, church membership, church history, theology, evangelism, and more. Learn more at sevbc.org/sunday-school.
Youth Group
Our Youth Group is grades 7-12 and meets during the Sunday School hour at 9:30am in Ministry Room 1 and every other Wednesday night at 6:30pm. Our group time is focused on biblical instruction, Christian discipleship, and genuine fellowship.
Women's Ministry
As Titus 2 teaches, it is important that older women and younger women of the church are regularly involved in each others’ lives. To help facilitate this, we host a Ladies’ Bible Study once per month. This provides an opportunity for the women of the church to meet together, pray, and share what the Lord is teaching them.
